Kaura has, first and foremost, been initiated with the Manggis community in mind. Discova's relationship and development with the people here forms the very basis of the retreat and drives its unique approach to hospitality. Kaura Bali is more than a place to sleep, but rather a singular opportunity for travellers to participate in the community and in doing so, connect with the warmth and beauty of the Balinese spirit.

Our Village Orientation Walk

A slow two to three-hour orientation walk of the village, its various farming initiatives, and its stunning immediate surroundings. Guests are accompanied by a local Manggis community member.

Get Involved – Manggis Farming Immersion

To be fully immersed in Kaura Bali means to get hands-on with its staple crops. Spend the morning or afternoon alongside the cheerful farmers who have supported their families for generations in the fertile valley.

Waterfall and Golden Brahma Statue Hike

Community Hub

The Manggis Community Hub was built with funding from employee donations from FCTG, the parent company behind Kaura and Discova. This amazing resource is a space where regular educational programs for both adults and children from the community take place. A percentage of all income received by Kaura is dedicated to funding the continuation of these programs that include language, women's empowerment and small business classes among other things.
