Job description
Sales Manager in Sales and Marketing will be responsible for contribution the revenue income successful of hotels and resorts as it pertains to Sales and Marketing. As a Manager, Sales and Marketing shall assume an active role in strategic planning and policy making for the company and shall develop plans in line with the company’s vision and values and be responsible for the implementation and execution of those plans and policies.

The position will be charged with successfully marketing and continually improving the company’s hotels and resorts in order to increase profitability.

To source, secure and maximize revenue opportunities from a dedicated account portfolio and leverage all sales tools and programs for maximum conversion. The Sales Manager will be required to conduct their duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the hotel’s policies and procedures, ensuring that a professional and high level of service is maintained.
Core tasks, duties and responsibilities
1. Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team.
2. Maximise the number of business diary conversions from inquiry to definite.
3. Monitor and review departmental performance on regular basis.
4. Prepare a 3-month forecast weekly for discussion at Sales Strategy Meetings and other financial review meetings.
5. Devise creative sales strategies to drive business over need dates in consultation with the Sales Team.
6. Practice efficient and effective yield management in line with guidelines and in consultation with both the corporate Sales and Revenue teams.
7. Promote special offers where appropriate and maximize each and every sales opportunity.
8. Ensure effective and timely communication between Meetings & Events Team and clients.
9. Ensure a weekly Event Order meeting is conducted to ensure the success of every event.
10. Monitor denied business and ensure team cross sell.
11. Maintain strong market awareness through competitor site inspections and networking.
12. Develop and maintain the Sales & Catering database ensuring accuracy of input by all team.
13. Organize and participate in client familiarization trips or events.
14. Develop and oversee the effective billing to clients ensuring accuracy and follow up.
15. Involve of all administrative works (Events Proposal, Confirmation, BEO, and other relevant documents).
16. Own recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of sales representatives.
17. Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
18. Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.
19. Organize and report weekly sales call plan and weekly entertainment plan to DOS.
20. Establish a regular core pattern for meeting with principals of target markets and conduct site inspections within the Hotel.
21. Plan and execute a series of familiarization tours to profile the Hotel and engage with customers for convention organizers, meeting planners, wedding planners, incentive operators, corporate travel planners and other industry personnel as applicable for the market segments.
22. Ensure a focus on all Hotel facilities including food and beverage, catering and additional products such as Fitness Centre and Spa.
23. Be responsible for a designated account base and targeted industry or geographic segment(s) for new business targeting.
24.Develop and refine a comprehensive mailing list for the above-mentioned segments in conjunction with the Marketing Communications Manager and keep this database updated and regular communicate to them.
25. Learn to read the marketing worksheets with an understanding of the budget the Hotel is working towards achieving in all rooms market segments.
26. Align management style, working practices and conduct with Hotel’s Vision, Corporate Values and policies.
27. Undertake additional duties as requested by the Department Manager and Hotel Management.
28. Ensure attendance at training, ensure you practice team spirit with new staff, orienting them as they arrive to the department.
29. Demonstrate working knowledge of all tasks within your area of responsibility.
30. Participate actively in the regular sales meeting to keep staff and management informed and to foster two-way communication.
31. Involve management in aspects of decision making for your accounts by participating actively in all meetings and get their input into winning & negotiating business.
32. Display creativity and initiative and display leadership skills by being able to operate with minimum supervision.
Co-operate with all departments within the hotel.
33. Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation immediately it occurs are notify staff of potential danger.
34. Develop an awareness of, and appreciation for, the richness of the cultural diversity of your clients, staff and location.
35. Ensure all associates have a high level of product knowledge so they are able to explain service and facilities to client as required.
36. Develop an awareness of local services, attractions and facilities.
37. Demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skill.
38. Negotiate contracts only with approved suppliers as per corporate management policy and procedures and under the direction of the DOS.
39. Participate in WOW site inspection.
40. Adhere to the Hotel credit policy and procedures.


SAFETY, SECURITY AND EMERGENCIES
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

HUMAN RESOURCES
1. Answer other hotel team member's questions regarding Sales in a friendly and courteous manner.
2. Provide training to other hotel team members on Marketing and Communications procedures and principles, as needed.
3. In conjunction with the General Manager, be responsible for the overall formulation, planning and implementation of Marketing strategies and business objectives.
4. Implement training initiatives with particular emphasis on coordinated and structured on job training aligned with service standards and service procedures.

COMMUNICATION
1. Be aware of the property’s communication policies
2. Conduct departmental meetings
3. Attend all relevant meetings, ensuring active participation, timely follow up on action items and pro-active dissemination of relevant communication points back to the department.
4. Use emotional intelligence when communicating with guests and associates
5. Communicates effectively with key stakeholders regarding development, updates and risks; fosters a culture of timely communication, openness, trust and feedback. Key stakeholders includes GVP, Group Operation Managers, head office and General Managers.
6. Cascades information within company as appropriate and promotes sharing of best practices and learning within the company
7. Communicates effectively with team and develops open and trusting relationships
8. Ensures all team players are well informed and cohesive in company goals and messages
9. Ensures that hotel hardware meets or exceeds the quality level rightly expected by guests
10. Suggests improvements and solutions on problems within the field of responsibility/expertise.

OPERATIONS
1. Sets and agrees strategy and budgets for the hotels with agreement of the GVP
2. Translates strategy into specific operational plans, budgets and goals for GVP
3. Works with GVP to support team in the development of their strategies and budgets

41. Maintain current information of competitor’s prices, products and promotions
42. Report customer feedback on : selling rates, off-peak rates and weekend packages
43. Ensures that sales office has sufficient sales-kit at all times including menu, layouts of departments, function menus, special flyers, closed periods and special cultural events coming to the region
44. Attend regular sales meetings with Sales, Banquet or Food and Beverage and Front Office Department regarding upcoming sales, promotions, marketing communication and functions
45. Ensures high standards of personal appearance and hygiene, clean and pressed dress
46. Performs other duties as assigned by the management

BRAND DELIVERY
1. Develops and reviews brand and operating standards to a higher level ensuring conformity within the hotels and resorts
2. Designs and implements measurement systems by which to regularly review attainment of operating standards
3. Liaises closely with management in relation to all physical aspects of the hotels and resorts
4. Acts as role model within the company, ‘living’ the company’s values
5. Challenges “traditional” work practices, processes, organizational structures and systems to ensure company is synonymous with innovations in guest satisfaction and operational efficiency
6. Responds quickly and positively to comments from customers and stakeholders
7. Demands high level of quality ethic through attention to detail and feedback on standards

LEADING AND DEVELOPING PERSONNEL
1. Provides inspired leadership to develop team identity with short and long-term business focus
2. Ensures proper personnel processes are maintained with a strong focus on employee management
3. Ensures regular training is carried out, both on and off the job, to ensure staff are fully equipped for the job
4. Performance manages, recognizes achievement, coaches and develops staff proactively to achieve their goals and towards personal improvement
5. Keeps close to hotel teams in planning all sales and marketing Plan
6. Conducts regular appraisals for direct reports
7. Develops personal improvement plans for self to ensure continuous learning.

OTHER FUNCTIONS
1. In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
2. Maintenance of filing system in accordance with the Record Retention policy.
3. Preparation of special reports or projects, as requested.
4. Attend all required meetings
5. Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, team members and guests.
6. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion
Job qualifications & skills
1. Bachelor Degree with good command of English.
2. Minimum 3 years experiences related to the position.
3. An additional spoken language is an advantage.
4. Positive attitude and have a pleasant personality
5. Must have a very strong sense of leadership, organization and management skills.
6. Possess good sales techniques and negotiation skills.
7. Proficient in common Microsoft software such World and Excel.
8. Possess customer-handling techniques.
9. Able to co-ordinate work processes in a systematic manner
10. Able to react fast but calmly in the midst of any co-ordination problems
11. Must possess a patient, pleasant personality
12. Comfortable in dealing with all levels of people
13. Be passionate and have the drive and determination to meet/exceed set goals.
14. Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
15. Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars and conferences
16. Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
17. Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
18. Strong business sense and industry expertise
